I love me a good cover.

Hello nice people who read my blog all about mental health and – you know – the more serious things in life. What I like, no love, next to psychology and cooking, is music. I used to collect good covers (what I considered good of course). I like to hear how artists are able to transfer a song, keep true to it’s roots and add their take and soul to it. They make the song their own and the song keeps it’s spirit. It is a tricky exercise which not everyone can do, in my humble opinion.

This week I was remembered by John Holton, The sound of one hand typing in his Monday’s Music Moves Me of one of the songs I really like ‘Crimson and Clover’ originally by Tommy James & The Shondells but Prince’s version of it, is beautiful in my ears. I’ll post both versions, so you can listen and compare or just enjoy. Or do nothing at all. It is Sunday.

Ouh uuuh
Come on
I don’t hardly know her
But I think I could love her
I hope she walks over
Because I’ve been waiting to show her
Crimson and Clover
Over and over
Baby, I think I love you
I want to know for sure
Come here and stick it to me one time
You move me
Such a sweet thing
Makes me want to sing
What a beautiful feeling
Crimson and clover
Over and over
Baby I, I think I love you
But I want to know for sure
O come here, stick it to me one time
Ah .. you don’t move me
Look up!

Enjoy your Sunday and let me know if you like my more romantic song choices. ❤

      1. Well you never know when talents can be handy to have! Did you know that elephants love to hear classical music played on the piano? They stop and listen and sometimes they have a favorite song.
Would be a great career switch for you, just keep an eye on the piggies then, you know with the elephants being so big and all 😉

    1. I don’t know if that’s old fashioned. They say that the original is always better. I agree with that most of the times. There are songs I think you can’t cover when you’re not the right person for it.
But I mostly agree with that statement that the original is the best in terms of books. Books are 99.99% better than the movie. I can be wrong of course but I’ve never encountered the opposite.

  1. Wow, Prince’s version makes one mesmerizing video! 😄 I seem to be an accidental Prince fan. I never specifically aimed to listen to his music, but then I gradually discovered I liked all the songs by him I had heard. Weird how that worked out.

    1. I’m not the biggest Prince fan and I don’t know all of his songs. The ones I do know I like, sometimes not being aware that it is Prince. I didn’t know this cover but I like the guitar in it, the style that he captured and the video is just great isn’t it?
