Sunshine Blogger Award II.

I received my second Sunshine Blogger Award from Hilary from Sereneluna. Thank you so much! Hilary runs a fun blog and has some good tips on how to deal with anxiety. She is very kind, so I would recommend to go over at Sereneluna and have a look for yourself.

Hilary’s Questions

  1. What year did you start blogging? My first post was written in October 2018. After a long break I posted in July and then slowly started posting regularly in September 2019.

  1. What is the most valuable thing youโ€™ve learned from blogging? That I’m not alone with my thoughts, story and experiences. That you can find a great deal of comfort in other people’s story and that people are not perfect at all. I was really surprised by the variety of stories and how open some people are on their blog. It helped me to open myself up to others without being utterly embarrassed.

  1. What time of day do you blog most often? For me it works best first thing in the morning.

  1. Are you a morning lark or a night owl? I feel at best in the morning but not too early though! Between 7 and 8 is a good time till 11. In the afternoon, early evening is not my time but from 21 oโ€™clock I have some new ideas what to do. I donโ€™t know if I fit in any category, it really depends.

  1. What is the first thing you do after waking up? PPPP …. Prepare coffee! I love my cup of coffee.

  1. Is breakfast the most important meal of the day? Why or why not? For me not really but it depends how your day looks like. When I do have the time I enjoy a brunch the most. Naturally I don’t eat in the mornings, my first bite would be in the afternoon. But I eat larger portions then. When the day is packed, I start with oats, granola and fruit. And coffee. A lot of coffee.

  1. What is your favorite social media platform and why? That must be WordPress for now ๐Ÿ™‚ I like YouTube because I can listen to almost all the music I like.

  1. Do you drive a car? Nope. I ride the bicycle.

  1. What does luxury mean to you? I like this question very much. As of lately I appreciate space and silence. I think in this day and age it is a real luxury to be able to live in a space that is ‘big’ enough for you and your family. The luxury is to have a garden maybe, if you want to have a dog like me. I live in small apartment for more then a decade now and I feel like I’m being confined too much, I can’t live my dream. I grew up in an apartment and played the violin. I wanted to learn the drums or to play the contrabas but for the one the apartment wasn’t a fit and for the other the car was too small. When I say ‘to have’ space I don’t mean a big villa or something exuberant. I mean the space to feel free and to have the possibility to enjoy what you would like to do. The second one is silence. I feel that a silent place is more and more difficult to find. Again, this may stem from my current living situation. Living in an apartment I hear what my neighbors are doing, the good, the bad and the ugly. There is a lot of traffic during the day, that is not the worst, I get that that’s normal. At night there are students who party a little. I’m happy that people do party and I wish them all well but sometimes I love to hear nothing, to be able to enjoy the silence and I feel like that is the ‘new luxury’.

  1. Who is your role model? Clichรฉ but strong women; Rosa Parks, Frieda Kahlo, Tina Turner. Women who manage to take care of their families, who go not one but 100 extra miles to do what is needed. Women who manage to care for themselves while having more difficult circumstances in life. I do admire them.

  1. What is your job/career/profession? I’ve worked in a psychiatric hospital for the last 13 years and am currently on the lookoutย  for a new challenge.

    1. It is, I agree for 100%. Not-aloneness, togetherness and acceptance. People don’t tend to be judgmental here and that is opposite to many thoughts in my head. It is really refreshing to read stories of others and to be able to connect.
I can finally think that I am not the only odd out ๐Ÿ™‚ and that odd is not so odd. And that when it’s odd, it’s actually not that big of a deal ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s heart warming!

  1. Good answers, Kacha. You can’t underestimate peace and quiet, that’s why I don’t really want to move from my house. We are abnormally quiet – we have holidayed in places for their quietness, only to find it is more boisterous than home!

    1. I find it so important these days. Living in the city is becoming more and more difficult for me. I hear everything and to make it worse the heating makes terrible noises all day long! Time to move! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I must admit for some reason I thought you did have a dog, I was surprised when I read a few weeks ago that you obviously didn’t. I think animals are good for our health, too, having one will probably improve you.

      2. When I was 16 I wanted to have a dog, from a shelter. Because I had issues then too and I thought, as I think today, that a dog is going to be good for me, like you wrote. My mum went to a shelter with me, let me pick one and than changed her mind. But the dream stayed alive but living alone the doggie would be alone all the time as I worked long days. Now Pierre promised that I can apply for a dog the day I move in with him. I have a few boxes packed and I’m just waiting for the car to be available ๐Ÿ™‚ This year my dream will come true! I take care of the 2 dogs of the family when needed, 1 from the parents-in-law and the other one is from my sister-in-law.

      3. I have never had a dog but have always had cats – we have two at the moment. I’d like a dog but….not while the cats are around. Especialy the girl, she quite jealously guards her space and would not thank me. The boy is more passive. I doubt he would mind a dog, as long as it didn’t disturb his sleep ๐Ÿ™‚

      4. I agree it has to be a fit with the family. Cats are fun too but I don’t have a ‘cat-gene’, more a dog one ๐Ÿ™‚ My parents-in-law have a dog and a cat (and gees and chickens) and the dog and the cat sleep in the same home in the garden. The cat wakes up first and he wakes the dog up and she wakes up the rest of the family ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. It is (or was) a trend, they call it ‘intuitive eating’. I do it too but it’s so difficult when living together because other people have set times to eat and they are not my times. Lunch is when Pierre announces it and supper follows my internal clock.

  2. Congratulations on your nomination and thank you so much for nominating me! I really enjoy your blog as well. I’ll be sure to answer your questions in a blog post as soon as I find the time. Take care!

  3. Congratulations, and thank you for the nomination! I totally agree that having enough space to feel comfortable is a prime luxury. Everyone needs a little privacy now and then, so having other people always close is really stressful. On the other hand, I would not want one of those giant houses that are often shown as a luxury. Too much space can feel hollow, just as too little space can feel suffocating.

    1. You’re very welcome ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes I feel I need a little more space in my life to be ‘me’, being able to move freely through life as you will. Too much space can be overwhelming but too little is not a relaxed feeling either. I agree 100% with your comment! Thank you for your comments, they are always so nice to read ๐Ÿ™‚
