Music can be therapeutic. ‘Thunder’ by Imagine Dragons came to me after my meeting with a very bad, bad, bad therapist. I’ll tell the full story in my ‘Winding Road of Therapy’ series. As I left her office I was fueled and mad. I was angry, explosive and exhausted as per usual. I remember this song giving me words, power and rythm to my emotions. It is still a power song to me today.
I also love the style, the vocals … there is nothing that I don’t love about this song. Do you have a song that channels your inner fury?
Lyrics:
Just a young gun with the quick fuse
I was uptight, wanna let loose
I was dreaming of bigger things And
wanna leave my own life behind
Not a yes sir, not a follower
Fit the box, fit the mold Have a seat in the foyer,
take a number I was lightning before the thunder
Thunder, thunder Thunder, thun’, thunder Thun-thun-thunder, thunder, thunder Thunder, thun’, thunder Thun-thun-thunder, thunder Thunder, feel the thunder Lightning and the thunder Thunder, feel the thunder Lightning and the thunder Thunder, thunder Thunder
Kids were laughing in my classes
While I was scheming for the masses
Who do you think you are? Dreaming ’bout being a big star
They say you’re basic, they say you’re easy
You’re always riding in the back seat
Now I’m smiling from the stage while You were clapping in the nose bleeds
Thunder Thunder, thun’, thunder Thun-thun-thunder, thunder, thunder
I need to mention my friend Hedda from Hedda’s Haven. She has a YouTube channel that you can check out here. It was she who gave me the idea to make ‘Music for Mental Health’. She suffers openly with depression and speaks about it on her channel. On Wednesdays she reads folktales and on Fridays there are Spooky Sessions. If you like stories and a warm personality, you can always have a look in the Haven. Send her my love!

Wonderful idea, Kacha, love it 🙂
And I also love that you give credit to the person who inspired your idea.
It’s been a while since I’ve needed a song to channel inner fury, but I still remember the ones which helped me do that.
The one which immediately came to mind after reading your question without needing to think about it is – Uprising by Muse.
Love your choice, and how you shared it with certain lyrics in bold. Beautifully done!

That’s heavy stuff. As in, you can feel their’s a lot going on as they’re writing the song.

It’s wondefull how some people can express their feelings so nicely and benefit others while doing so.

That’s a brilliant song for mental health. I guess the one that really sticks in my brain is ‘One More Light’ by Linkin Park. Such a sad song, and even sadder when you think of the events surrounding it

I remember you wrote a post about it. For one weird reason I didn’t ‘liked’ it (forgot the press the button I mean!) I do like the song, music is so powerful and can bring people together.
