10 Quotes about Mental Health and how Pinterest can be helpful.

10 Quotes … sounds like Buzzfeed. While I was ‘resting’ due to burnout, closer to the truth would be ‘not being able to do anything but my mind wanted to be occupied‘, I spent a lot of time on Pinterest. It soothed me. I found nice color schemes, photographs and quotes.

Creating boards made me able to gather my thoughts. I focused on what felt nice to me. Slowly the bigger picture emerged. It wasn’t too stressful, it wasn’t difficult and above all, it was quiet.

Through art, photographs and written words I found some of the beauty of the world. I found an initial connection with that what I found beautiful. With these tiny steps I became human again. I felt something and ‘knew’ what was beautiful to me and what was not. If I could make that small choice, there must be hope.

Looking through my boards again, I found some quotes that I’ve saved during that time and I wanted to share them with you.

Experience is the hardest kind of teacher. It gives you the test first and the lesson afterwards. (Oscar Wilde).

Sometimes when you’re in a dark place, you think you’ve been buried but you’ve actually been planted. (Christine Caine).

And here you are living. Despite it all. (Rupi Kaur).

You are so brave and quiet, I forget you are suffering. (Ernest Hemingway).

Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways. (Sigmund Freud).

I know this transformation is painful, but you’re not falling apart; you’re just falling into something different, with a new capacity to be beautiful. (William C. Hannan).

Destroy the idea that you have to be constantly working or grinding in order to be successful. Embrace the concept that rest, recovery, reflection are essential parts of the progress towards a successful and happy life. (Zach Galifianakis).

And like the moon, we must go through fases of emptiness to feel full again. (Unknown).

Breathe darling. This is just a chapter. It’s not your whole story. (S.C. Lourie).

Give yourself permission to break routine. (BuddhaDoodles.com)

Is there a quote that peeked your interest? Do you enjoy gathering these quotes as well?

Note: I really did find all these quotes on the internet. I don’t know for 100% if the authors mentioned can really be quoted in that way.

  1. Oh wow. You have hit on one of my biggest “hobbies”. Lying in bed, on my phone either blogging, reading, Facebook, and on and on. I’m too tired/unmotivated to do anything physical. I have no interest in cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc. I end up spending hours on my phone. I have a funny meme I made about it somewhere….
